Mike and Karen Cove are a unique blend of their English and American heritage. The Coves, as they are affectionately known by their local fans, hail from Sherwood, Wisconsin and have been playing together since 1997. Their concert program includes the tranquil acoustic sounds of sweet contemporary and classical guitar instrumentals punctuated with razor sharp harmonies in their vocal sets. Their music blends modern, traditional and contemporary folk music in addition to some favorites from the pop scene. Having spent most of his life in England it would also not be out of place for a few Lennon and McCartney songs to slip into the program. Both Karen and Mike share the vocals throughout the concert to provide the audience with variety experience. Both play acoustic guitar and Mike plays Bass on some of their music. Mike and Karen are accomplished musicians using synthesizer, piano, recorder, and electric guitar in the studio.
The Coves song writing abilities draw from life experiences and are usually based in faith, hope and love. As Christians Mike and Karen devote much of their time in providing comfort to others and giving warmth and hope to thier audiences. Award winning "White Horses" tells a story of the sea and a yearning for far off places while "Up the Wooden Hill" is a comforting reminder of the tender times with young children at story-time. Mike and Karen are usually working on at least one CD project during the year.
Mike and Karen have recorded several CD's in their own recording studio. In particular "these 3 remain", available for $12, is used to generate money that is sent to the Sahawi children in Africa through Christ The Rock church in Harrison.
